What Information Do We Collect?
When you visit our website or blog, you may knowingly choose to provide us with personal information about yourself. In addition to this individual information that you may provide to us voluntarily, we collect aggregate data on how you, and all our other visitors, make use of this site.
Personal Information You Choose To Provide
We will not sell, trade, or in any other manner intentionally distribute, disseminate, or disclose any personal identification information about you (such as, for example, your full name, street or mailing address, telephone number or e-mail address) as an individual user of this website to any companies, organizations, individuals, or any other third party without having first received your permission. However, if you contact us to inquire about a TERC product, we may forward limited contact information about you to our publisher and/or distributor to enable them to respond to your inquiry, without first obtaining your permission.
We may request personal identification information from you in connection with your use of, or participation in, surveys, e-mail correspondence, bulletin boards, mailing list registrations enabling you to receive our publications, or teacher registrations enabling teachers to participate in curriculum field-tests, workshops, and/or other TERC project activities. However, we will only collect this personal information from you if you have voluntarily submitted it to us.
Any personal information provided to us may be used in connection with the activities previously referred to above. Should you contact us with questions or comments, we may use your personal information in order to respond to your questions or comments. We may also keep your comments or questions for future reference.
It is important to note that if you give out personal information online, through a bulletin board or social media channel, for example, that information may be collected and used by third parties. We cannot guarantee the security of information you post in these arenas. You disclose such information at your own risk. You should also be aware that e-mail communications are not necessarily secure against interception.
TERC enables site users to change or modify personal information by contacting the contact person listed on the website.
One exception to this policy is that we will release specific information about you to comply with any valid legal process requested by a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order.
Privacy of Children
TERC does not solicit personal information from minors. We will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of thirteen (13) without prior verifiable parental consent.
If we become aware that a site visitor under the age of thirteen (13) has provided personal information without prior verifiable parental consent, we will remove his or her personally identifiable information from our files. Please note, we may maintain a record of that person’s name and address in a “do not register” file to prevent subsequent registration of that minor.
Non-Personal Website Use Information
TERC automatically collects and stores information from each site visitor that is not personally identifying information. As each visitor browses through the website, reading and/or downloading pages, we will gather and store certain information about the visit. This information does not identify you personally. We automatically collect and store the following information about your visit:
- The Internet domain (for example, xcompany.com if you use a private Internet access account, or yourschool.edu if you connect from a school or university domain), and IP address (a number automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are online) from which you access our website.
- The type of browser and operating system you use to access our site, and other details about your software and hardware configurations.
- The date and time you access our site.
- The pages you visit within our site.
- If you came to our pages from another website, the URL of that website.
We use this non-personal information to help us make each of our websites more useful to visitors–to learn about the number of visitors to our site and the types of technology our visitors use.
This policy applies to all TERC project websites, except in circumstances in which individual TERC projects choose to post modified versions of this policy on their project websites.
